This is a dry, Provençal-style rosé made from Syrah grapes grown in Brownsburg at Mulberry Grove Vineyard. Fragrant and floral on the nose, the wine is juicy with flavors of strawberry and red cherry. This is a refreshing, fruity wine to be enjoyed around the barbecue or on the front porch (or deck overlooking the river) on hot summer days.
JMV’S LIVIA is an original Italian-style blend of northern Italian grape varieties grown at Jump Mountain—Refosco, Lagrein and Sagrantino—with Cabernet franc from Mulberry Grove in Brownsburg. Nose is juicy with a hint of smoke. The palate is full bodied, very fruity, with soft tannins. The unusual smokey flavor comes from the Lagrein varietal in the blend. Pairs especially well with turkey, duck, and pork dishes. In case you were wondering about the name, the namesake is Empress Livia Drusilla Augusta (58 B.C.- 29 A.D.), wife of Augustus Caesar, who proclaimed Refosco, the dominant grape in the blend, to be her favorite wine.
The national grape of Austria, Grüner veltliner produces a crisp, refreshing white wine characterized by citrus flavors. Looking for a white varietal that would be suited to the climate of western Rockbridge County, Jump Mountain was among the first Virginia vineyards to experiment with this grape. This vintage is a blend of estate-grown fruit and grapes from Great Valley Farm in Natural Bridge. The wine is half fermented in neutral French oak and half in stainless steel, with lees stirred to enhance the aromatics. Classic white pepper on the nose; citrus, green apple, and ripe pear on the palate, finishing with a zesty minerality. Pairs well with seafood (and fried chicken!)
This wine is composed of 100% estate-grown Cabernet sauvignon, aged for 24 months in French oak barrels. Solid black fruits on the nose and fruit-forward with firm tannins on the palate, this wine displays the Cabernet flavor profile characteristic of Jump Mountain’s terroir. Still young, this wine drinks well now but will improve with age. Pairs well with red meat dishes.
