Jump Mountain Wins 2023 Shenandoah Cup For 2019 Borderland
On November 10, 2023, Jump Mountain Vineyard was awarded the 2023 Shenandoah Cup, by the Shenandoah Valley Wine Trail, for their 2019 Borderland.
We’re pretty thrilled
Mary Hughes, Co-Owner, Jump Mountain Vineyard
Borderland is “50% Tannat, that is a Basque grape grown in the sheepherding area of the Pyrenees on the border between France and Spain which is how we got the name”, Mary explained. “We blended that with 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Cabernet Franc. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Tannat we grow on our property. The Cab Franc we get from a neighbor…so all our grapes come from Rockbridge County.”

Jump Mountain also received a Gold Medal for their 2021 Livia and a Silver Medal for their 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon.
About the Shenandoah Cup
The Shenandoah Valley Wine Trail created the Shenandoah Cup in 2019. “The goal is to draw more attention to the Shenandoah Valley AVA highlighting the superior growing conditions for wine grapes and the resulting wines that are being made. Wine submitted for judging must be at least 85% Shenandoah Valley AVA wines and produced by one of our members.” Read more about the Shenandoah Cup.
